Mexico FAQ'S
What is a food tour in Mexico City?

A Mexico City food tour is an immersive experience that takes you through the heart of the city's vibrant food culture, with carefully selected stops at street food stands, taquerías, and local institutions. Our tour explores the deep roots of Mexican cuisine, showcasing the influence of pre-Hispanic traditions, regional specialties, and even Michelin-recognized food stalls. Our tours focus on quality and availability, ensuring every stop delivers the best flavors on the day of your visit. Expect to sample a variety of Mexico’s most iconic dishes, including tacos, barbacoa, tamales, nopales and more, all while learning about their history and cultural significance. We carefully balance legendary street food with modern influences, making this tour a must for anyone looking to understand why Mexico City is one of the world’s great food capitals.

Is the food tour suitable for vegetarians or people with dietary restrictions?

Yes, the food tour can be customized to accommodate vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-intolerant diets. Unfortunately, we can't accommodate to a vegan diet whilst maintaining the same quality standards we are famous for. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions or preferences at least 24 hours in advance, and we’ll make sure to tailor the experience to suit your needs.

What is included in the tour price?

The price of our food tour includes all food tastings, drinks (whether beer or non-alcoholic), and a knowledgeable guide. From start to finish, everything is taken care of so you can simply relax and enjoy the experience. No need to worry about extra costs or planning—just show up, indulge in Mexicos' best flavors, and let us handle the details.

How much food is there on the tour?

We will be eating and drinking plenty! No one has ever left our tours hungry. We take the “food” in “food tour” VERY seriously.

Do I need to speak Spanish to go on a food tour in Mexico City?

¡Para nada! Wait—don’t worry, you don’t actually need to speak Spanish to enjoy the tour! All of our Mexico City food tours are conducted in English, and our expert guides handle all the communication with vendors, so you can focus on enjoying the food. Of course, if you’d like to pick up a few key phrases along the way (like how to properly order tacos like a local), we’re happy to teach you!

What’s the best time of year for a food tour in Mexico City?

Mexico City is a year-round foodie destination, but the best time for a food tour depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for. From November to April, the weather is cooler and drier, making it the most comfortable time to explore the city on foot. If you visit in September, you’ll find seasonal specialties like chiles en nogada, a patriotic dish only available for a limited time. Street food is delicious no matter when you come, but keep in mind that June to September is the rainy season, so an umbrella might come in handy!

Are food tours in Mexico City safe?

Absolutely! Your safety is our top priority. Our food tours are designed to provide an incredible culinary experience while keeping you in safe, well-traveled areas of the city. We carefully select all our food stops, ensuring they meet high hygiene standards, and our local guides are experts in navigating the city to make sure you feel comfortable at all times. Mexico City is a vibrant and exciting place, but like any major city, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings. That’s why joining a guided food tour is one of the best and safest ways to explore—you’ll experience the city’s incredible street food scene with a knowledgeable guide and a group of fellow travelers. Just bring your appetite, and we’ll take care of the rest!

What should I know about tipping on a food tour in Mexico City?

Tipping is customary in Mexico, and it’s appreciated. A tip of 10-15% of the total tour price is considered appropriate if you are satisfied with the experience. It’s also common to tip your guide directly at the end of the tour.

Can I join a food tour if I’m traveling alone?

Absolutely! Our food tours are perfect for solo travelers, couples, or small groups. It’s a fantastic way to meet fellow food lovers from all over the world, share stories, and enjoy the experience together. Whether you’re exploring solo or with others, you’ll feel right at home on our tours.

Do I need to book the food tour in advance?

Yes, we strongly recommend booking your food tour in advance to guarantee availability, especially during peak tourist seasons, which typically run from December to February and over major holidays. Our tours tend to fill up quickly, and last-minute bookings may not be possible, so securing your spot early ensures you don’t miss out on this unforgettable experience.
